Financially-strong business sought to support struggling members

Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce Director Lori Hunt hasn’t been in the city for long, but she has been impressed by the support given among community members.

Now, Hunt seeks “Chamber Champions.” She is asking chamber members with firmly-established businesses to help those that are lagging.

Some members aren’t able to pay dues at the time when they need support of the chamber of commerce the most, she said. Some have quietly closed because business wasn’t good.

Hunt is seeking members who can afford to help with any size donation and she will distribute the funds as needed.

The Chamber serves all of Branch County — Coldwater, Bronson and Quincy — and has about 430 members.

Although there has been recent growth, especially with new provisioning businesses coming to the area, Hunt doesn’t want to lose existing business.

She also asks members who need help to call her at (517) 278-5985.

“We thought now would be a great opportunity to watch the magic of Coldwater come together,” Hunt said. “One thing I’ve learned about this community is we always rally for those in need.”

Cut-off date is April 30.
